Can a Minor Move Out at Age 17
I'll be 17 in 5 days and Just don't get along with my mom and step dad. I have no freedom and would like to be more of an adult. Would I be able to move in with my adult brother? (23) or move out in general with out being forced back into my mother's home ?

State laws vary significantly. What state are you in? Would your parents agree? No one can answer your question without that information.

Assuming that you are in the US, the answer is: If your parents say you can move out at 17 you can. If your parents say you cannot move out at 17, you cannot. It really is that simple.

There is NO state in the US where a 17 year old can legally move out without permission. No matter what state you are in, you have to be at least 18. In some states older.

If you think it's any better being out there as an adult, think again.

Adults have to obey rules and do chores, too.

A lot more so than ungrateful teenagers have to do at home.

Do you have a good job so you can support yourself ? Are you still in high school. The real world will demand much more of you than you mother does. The penalty for not doing as you are told to do in the real world will be far worse than your mothers punishment. Being an adult looks like fun, until you get there.
