My Cat Was Caught Shoplifting at a Pet Store
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Colorado
Well today I received a call from the police saying I had to go down to the pet store because my cat had been caught shoplifting a bag of treats and some catnip. When I got there my cat was detained in the LP office and when the police arrived she was given a citation to appear in kitty court. I heard that possible consequences of this could be community service, such as catching mice and rats, and that I could also have to donate to the local shelter. Is kitty jail a possibility?

That’s a pretty talented cat, able to read the labels on the product he/she wanted. Maybe if you provided those things to your cat he or she wouldn’t have to resort to shoplifting to get it? Just like a human, that cat burglar should expect to pay consequences for its crimes. Maybe a period of house detention would be in order. :D

Expect your cat to get a kitty demand letter.
Prosecution is unlikely once she pays that.
