How Long Will a Shoplifting Incident Show Up in the Retail Theft Database
My question involves criminal records for the state of: California

So I just got news that I am receiving a promotion and in order to have everything finalized I need to pass a background check. However, when I was a freshman in high school -- about 14-15 years old, now 20 -- I got caight shoplifting. No cops were called, the store didn't take me to court, and, surprisingly, I never received a civil demand letter. Despite all this I'm still worried that my information was submitted to the Theft Database, in such case I would be prevented from receiving the promotion.

Is it possible that my name was never submitted or no longer appears on the Theft Database since the incident occurred before I was 18? On top of that, I had a background check conducted on me about a year or 2 ago in order to become a highschool tutor and everything was clear, however I doubt they checked the theft database since it was a tutoring job, not retail or anything similar to the sort.

    Thanks in advance!

Re: Is My Name Still in the Theft Database
The NRTD complies with the FCRA rules and nothing older than 7 years is in there. Further, it is doubtful that a minor was ever entered in there in the first place. I believe that is against their policy.
