Are You Liable for an Adult Child's Medical Debt if She's On Your Health Insurance
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: California
Filing 20 year old daughter who is covered by my health insurance as dependent on my federal taxes... does this expose me to being liable for her health debt? I have not signed any agreements with docs or facilities.
Thank you in advance for any input.

No, it does not.

I don't know where so many people get the idea that they are responsible for their adult children's medical bills simply by virtue of supplying their health insurance.
One more time, with feeling.
Unless you signed something agreeing to be responsible for her medical bills, you are not, regardless of whether she is a dependent for health insurance/tax purposes or not. She is an adult. She is responsible for her own bills unless you agree, in writing, to take that responsibility for her.
