I didn't have a cart full of stuff I was stealing. Don't reply to this if you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Oh get over yourself. You got caught stealing.
You are going to have a very difficult, if not impossible time convincing the judge you were not attempting to steal the crockpot as well as the jacket.
Yes, I've been through hard times. Have you ever eaten a bread sandwich for dinner (although we did have mustard to go with it) for 2 days. There wasn't any breakfast or lunch to even think about. I think three of us split a micky d's burger the 3rd night.
even in those times I would neve have considered stealing a crockpot (no food to put in it anyway) or a jacket. I struggled through without the need to steal.
especially since you were staying with your parents, that gives you even less reason to steal.
aside from all of that, you are making excuses for stealing. If you were starving and you stole food, I would be right there supporting you. The fact you stole unneccessary items tells me it was not a theft of need.
I also gave you advice that was not judgemental in any way.
just so you don;t think I only want to give you a hard time, from what I could find in Virginia laws, you will be charged with 18.2-103 which is considered petit larceny.http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp...0+cod+18.2-103
and is a class 1 misdemeanor.
punishment for same:
(a) For Class 1 misdemeanors, confinement in jail for not more than twelve months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both
plus there is a law that allow up to a $250 fee to be paid to the merchant for paying a person to go to court for the prosecution of the crime.
Now, there may be other possibilities available. That is why I said to ask for a public defender when asked if you want counsel by the judge.
Re: Shoplifting at Target in Virginia
You wore the jacket out, you EXPECT the clerk to see the crockpot that you placed under the diaperbag and you have a 'wonderful' attitude. Steeeerike 3! You are O-U-T!
Ever think about pawning the PC you're using? If there's true justice in this world, which there isn't so don't worry, you should be facing a child endangerment charge in addition to the theft.
