How to Change a Child's Name if the Father is Absent or in Jail
My question involves name change laws in the State of: Texas

Ok so I have two children with different fathers. My oldest child's father has been absent for the last 4 years, and my youngest kids father was recently sentenced to jail for a long time. Both my kids, 11 and 6, have since mentioned changing their names to my last name. I have looked into it but keep being told I need the consent of the other parent to change their names. If I can't reach one or even know where he is, and the other one is in jail...is there any way to change my kids names without their fathers' consent?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, its possible. However, it would likely be better handled by an attorney.
