Can You Cancel Your Lease Before You Move In
A month ago, my husband n I signed a lease for a apartment but have not deposit any money but we did get the move in date. Can I cancel the unit lease before moving in? And second question is that when we signed the lease, we didn't do a deposit right away so I'm confuse because I look online and most place that people sign the lease they pay right away for the unit but for us it was different... does that mean the unit is ours for rent or can they cancel our unit anytime because we didn't deposit money like most of the people who had sign a lease to a apartment? This is our first time moving out so if anyone can help out with this, much appreciated.

Once you commit yourself to a lease by signing it, you become a tenant who is committed to pay rent as of the move-in date. You may have a provision for early termination in your lease. With enough notice your landlord may even be able to find a replacement tenant before your schedule move-in date.

Beyond that, laws vary by state, and as you did not follow the instruction to identify your state you will need to do that research yourself.
