Will You Be Extradited on a Retail Theft Warrant
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois. I have a warrant in Illinois for 4 counts of retail theft. My warrant/bond is for $500. Misdemeanor apparently. Would I be extradited in Wausau Wisconsin for this. I'm waiting to be hired at a factory plant in Wisconsin.

You could be. No one can predict what will happen.

However, expect to get detained whenever you have an encounter with the police. You could be in jail quite a while until it is determined whether to originating agency will come and get you. Even if there were no chance of extradition, you could be detained until that is determined - every time you have a police encounter.

Yep, the cheesehead constabulatory will likely hold you until they determine if anybody from Illinois wants to take a short road trip up to get you. Catch and release doesn't mean they've released the warrant either. You can can get caught multiple times that way.

If the warrant is in the interstate system, then you can be detained as described even if the state that issued the warrant decides not to extradite you. I've seen cases in which a person wanted on a warrant maxed out their jail time in various detentions, before finally dealing with the warrant (with a sentence to "time served" in various jails around the country). Misdemeanor warrants typically have a limited pickup range, but that is not always the case.

He doesn't say where his Illinois warrant is for, but Wausau is only a four-hour drive from Chicagoland.

By the way, if your employer does a background check for hiring, he may indeed find the pending charges.

Avoiding the chargers, can just make things worse b.c you can't duck them forever. Maybe you can get probation or something,if they catch later down the line, they might give you jail time or add another charge. Couldn't you go back to Il,with $500 and bond yourself out, hopefully resolve it eventually.
