Is it Fraud to Use a Canceled Credit Card for PayPal Purchases
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Utah
So me and my ex husbands old bank account closed down, and it's still on paypal, and it was processing the orders I was making. Is that credit card fraud? I called my bank saying that I was gonna cancel the orders or send them back, they said it wouldn't be on their end, it would be paypal. SO if I just let it be and get the stuff, would it be credit card fraud or would it just count against my credit and lower my credit score? Plus the paypal is in my husbands name... and I'm willing to have it go to my credit not his so he doesn't challenge it.
Help please :(

You are trying to trick people into sending you stuff by using a credit card number that you know is not valid. Unless you want to be fitted for a pair of silver bracelets by your local constabulary, you should stop trying to steal from those people.

You obviously have the password for the PP account. If you sign into PP and check the account, you will likely find that none of the transactions went through and nobody is sending you anything.
The last think you should be worried about is your credit score.

If you intentionally bought things knowing the credit card number was no good, it is INDEED fraud. If it was inadvertent, probably not, but you're still likely in trouble.
As Bud says, if the card was closed (either disabled or just over the limit or deliquent and shut off), Paypal probably rejected the payment pretty quickly (unless you have a backup funding source that's being hit instead).
