Is it Illegal to Send Dirty Texts to a Minor Who You Thought Was an Adult

I was on a chat site and met a girl who said she was 17, from Texas. She gave me her number, and we talked on the phone, and subsequently started texting. We liked each other so we started talking more, flirting more, and eventually talked about physical things we would do if we were together. Later on it turns out she was really 14, her parents found out, and called the police. I'm not sure if they have records of what we actually talked about or not. She apologized about lying about her age, and according to her, told me that her parents/police dropped everything just as long as we stop talking.

No there was no money asked. I didn't send any bad pictures nor receive any. I didn't try to meet up with her. It has also been about a month since the police were called.

So I want to know am I in the clear for this? What are the chances of state prosecutors picking this up, or the parents changing their mind?

They didn't ask for money? Cause it sure sounds like the standard scam.

Nope she told me they dropped it. I just want to know if I should continue to worry about this since she said it was dropped. (I haven't talked to her since she told me this)

Delete the number (or better yet block it) and don't contact her again.

Theoretically, they have until the statute of limitations expires on any potential charges to pursue this. If you have not heard anything in a month, odds are you won't. Go forth and dirty chat no more.

Nobody has a crystal ball. All I can tell you is the longer time goes on, the more likely they won't take action, but nobody knows for sure.

Meanwhile, try meeting girls the old fashioned way- by talking to them in person.
