Using Somebody Else's Credit Card to Make Purchases
So I found a few credit cards on the ground.. Used both of them at walmart (one on an ipad for $400 and one on a tv for $900) after buying both I dropped the ipad on the floor in the store along with the credit cards, then walked out. then one of the workers brought the tv out to load up my car..which I regrettably let him do. I fear the parking lot cameras likely have my license plate and I will have cops at my door eventually wit ha warrant to take me to jail..its been 5 days since.. what will this persons bank do? what will walmart do? what will the police do? at the end of the day will I get caught for my thoughtless act? thanks..

Crystal ball is out for calibration. Magic 8-Ball was borrowed and never returned.

Could you be caught? Yes. Will you be? Who knows.

just wish I had more clarity and a better idea of what will happen now. but I deserve to have this situation live in my gut for a long time...

You could always turn yourself in. That would help assuage the horrid guilt you must be feeling, non?

Keep your mouth shut and sweat it out.

Watch this video. It explains why.

Don't discuss it with ANYBODY except a lawyer if you are contacted by authorities.

Your friends, family and co-workers can be compelled to testify against you.

Your silence might be the only thing that keeps you from a felony record.

What you did was incredibly stupid but even the incredibly stupid have the right to remain silent.

It's going to take some time. When the person who's CCs you used gets their statement and sees those charges, they will call the CC company and report that those were not their charges. And chances are that the cards were reported lost so that shaves off some of the time. But the cardholder has to fill out a fraud report first and send it to the CC company.

The CC company will initiate an investigation in their fraud unit as the charges were $1,300. They will get video from the store, likely your license plate from the parking lot and when they think they have a case, you will be contacted to make restitution and/or arrested for CC fraud.

    Time will tell.

can the CC company get tape? or do they get the police involved to handle it? any chance they don't care about it? ive heard police don't care about theft under $2000?

would the CC company reverse charges therefore putting walmart on the hook for their loss? and what would they do?

this tiny suburb area has a high theft crime and cops are all over this walmart all the time..its like its the only place they get called into...

Yes they can. Any store that accepts their CC has a contractual agreement to cooperate in a fraud investigation.

The police will be involved when the CC company makes their case.

If the person that was the CC holder made the purchase and requested a chargeback, yes. But in a fraud case, no
