First you have to realize that there was a very good reason the forum stuck the "My question involves juvenile law in the State of" at the beginning of your post.
    You need to answer that.

Raising yourself is not a criterion for emancipation. You need to be independently supporting yourself in most states.
Your parents "not paying attention to you" is not going to enter into it.
Your brothers abusing you is not going to enter into it. We don't emancipate people just because they are abused.

In your state, you cannot be emancipated unless you are a minimum of 16 and YOUR PARENTS file the emancipation petition.

Even assuming you can do that, you will need to be able to show the judge to his satisfaction (and he will not be easily satisfied) that you have the means to pay ALL your own expenses (that means rent, utilities, food, clothing, transportation, insurance, medical care, staples, school fees and supplies, etc.) while still going to school and getting better than average grades. No judge will emancipate you so that you can become a burden on the taxpayers and no judge will emancipate you if the circumstances are such that you would have to drop out of school or have your grades drop. Finally, no judge is going to emancipate you to go live with someone else - emancipation means SELF-support.

I don't know. Either something was edited or I answered the wrong thread. The answer would imply that for some reason I thought the poster was in Florida.

I know I have answered the wrong thread before ... and, I have answered edited threads before. Anything is possible. :)

I was wondering if you had seen this post on another board somewhere and may have had some not-so-obvious insight as a result.

We get a lot of duplicates but I don't recall seeing this one anywhere else. We had a couple of emancipation threads yesterday - I might have hit the wrong one.

I did that on a traffic thread the other day ... thought I was responding to one from San Jose and, instead, posted it to one for San Francisco. And they weren't even about the same offense ... <sigh>

What sort of horrible things are you referring to? My first thought is they are sexually abusing you. If that is the case you need to go to the police and tell them what your brothers are doing to you, if you can not go to the police, perhaps another family member. Do not be afraid of what people will think of you if you tell them about the horrible things your brothers have done to you!

    Please don't assume.

IF you are being abused in any way you have to report it.

Yes, but it's not going to result in emancipation.

I refuse to go further without knowing what state we're talking about.

I never said it would result in emancipation. I just said to the OP if he or she is being abused, he/she needs to report it. Period. Nothing to follow. Just report abuse IF you are a person being abused. I tell that to anyone who states they are being abused that they need to report it.
