Arrest Warrant After Failing to Pay Criminal Fines
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia
Just found out that I have an arrest warrant in West Point, GA. It's a county warrant for a misdemeanor. The initial offense was driving without a valid license. It's been a year since I've been sentenced and I haven't been able to pay and now I just found out I got a warrant. I live in Atlanta, GA about an hour and a half away. If I'm pulled over will police be able to see the warrant and if they do will they detain me for it? Also, will the warrant show up in Florida?
Re: Warrant for My Arrest
County distinctions within the original state are meaningless. The warrant is state wide. Whether Florida will see it or not is unknown. They may. If they do they can arrest you and if GA will extradite, they'll hold you until GA retrieves you.
Its also quite likely you have no valid valid driver's license. If stopped in Florida it could result in addiitional charges there.
Re: Warrant for My Arrest
It depends on how far they search warrants in Florida. But in Georgia yes it will show up and you will have it forever until you take care of it. Go take care of it.
