Do You Need Witnesses for a Will or Can You Use a Notary Instead
If you execute a will in Virginia, do you need to have two witnesses sign, along with their names and addresses, or can you instead have your will notarized?

You need two witnesses. A notary can serve as one of the witnesses, or may notarize the signatures to the will. I suggest having two witnesses and then adding a self-proving affidavit to the will, such that admission to probate will be simplified.
