What is the Penalty for Finding Somebody to Falslely Confess to Your Crime
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Chicago, IL

Hi, thank you for taking the time to read my post. I was wondering what the punishment would be for someone who committed a crime and then found someone who would rather be in jail and having them admit to the crime, so the police would think they caught the person they were after. Would it depend on the severity of the crime that they falsely admit to or would it be the same for all crimes and what would that punishment be?

    Thank you :)

I can think of several crimes that could be pursued for BOTH parties involved. If you put your mind to it, I’m sure you can figure out this really isn’t a good idea. But, seriously, real life isn’t an episode of Breaking Bad nor are posters here to evaluate improbable TV plot lines.

If this is a real situation, I sure hope Claire Robinson isn't your real name!

I never said I was the perpetrator, if you don't know the answer just say so.

Never said I was the perpetrator, nor planning to be. Also, things like Breaking Bad, for example, do happen. No that specific story line but things like it, as in people do make meth, kill people, and there are people who will falsely admit to crimes because they would rather be in jail. If you don't know the answer just say so.

I never said you were the perp, and neither did PTPB22. Where the heck did you get that idea?

If this is a real situation and Claire Robinson is your real name, then even if you're not the perp, the two people who want to do this illegal thing can be traced through you. Maybe you thought you were doing them a favour by doing some research for them here? You were wrong.

And if this isn't a real situation? As you've already been advised, we don't do hypotheticals here.

There are too many variables to give you a definite answer, and the majority of posters here don't do hypotheticals. If you have a real situation with real details, present it. Otherwise, run away and let the grown-ups talk.

Reading comprehension is fundamental. You ought to try it sometime.
