Can You Be Forced to Renew Your Lease if Your Roommate Won't Agree to End It
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of California / city of San Francisco:
I am not renewing my lease at the end of the term. I already gave 30 days notice. My roommate wants to remain in the place. Fine. I called the leasing office to confirm that they received my notice. They told me I am forced to renew / go month-to-month along with him until he wants out of the lease / month-to-month rollover of the lease. This seems utterly absurd. Do I have any obligation once the lease is up?
