How Quickly Can a Boyfriend Kick You Out of His Apartment
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Ohio
So my boyfriend and I have broken up. We have had an apartment, only in his name, since October. All of my personal belongings are there. My pets are there. He is telling me since I ended things with him, that my things need to be out by today. No written notice or anything, just "be out today". I'm no lawyer but my understanding is that legally even though my name is not on the lease, I still should be given 15 days at the least. I also paid for this month.
Please help me. I'm at work until 9pm and am freaking out that he is going to remove or touch my stuff while I'm not there.
Re: Boyfriend Kicking Me Out of Apartment
If you're paying rent to your boyfriend, you're his subtenant. You can make him jump through a lot of hoops to get you out -- but if you're paranoid on day one that he's going to mess with your stuff, you had best be thinking about how to get out ASAP not how to prolong your pain.
Re: Boyfriend Kicking Me Out of Apartment
If you do not move immediately you should remove anything you are concerned about to some other site for storage. Obviously unless you are there 100% of
the time he is there he has the opportunity to do as he wishes with your property. Remove the estremely important personal property now to safeguard it.
