If you are in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy and want to covert it to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, can you convert your bankruptcy case without using a lawyer?
Is it possible? Certainly and in many cases it won't even be particularly complicated. The exact procedure can vary somewhat between bankruptcy courts, so check the local court rules.
Some debtors will have difficulty converting the bankruptcy without legal assistance, or will have complicated bankruptcy issues that could make the conversion more difficult, in which case they will benefit from consulting bankruptcy lawyer. (Even if things seem straightforward, anybody who can get a free consultation with a bankruptcy lawyer should consider doing so.)
