What to Do if You Fall Behind in Support
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Louisiana
My son has been laid off for months (oil field in Louisiana is out). Went back doing a much lower paying job last week.
His support Is way behind, I don't see how he can ever make it up. He has no money for an attorney, he has little left after support is removed, almost his entire check. Having to live with me.
I no nothing about support and was looking to help. Anyone?

(Is there a reason he can't come here himself?)

He should have filed to modify when he got laid off. This should help him quite a bit, lots of good info for him: https://www.acf.hhs.gov/sites/defaul...a_cs_order.pdf

He should come here and ask these questions himself since he has more information than you do.

As long as he doesn't pay his support it will build up in arrears and he has to pay it someday. If his income has changed he has to go to court to modify the amount of support.

He is offshore at the moment. I searched for answers on his behalf and found this forum. It's really not me, he has had a hard time getting answers, and he is a millennium

In case you and he are not aware, if he has a Tax Refund coming, they will take that to help pay his child support arrears. When he no longer owes child support arrears, he should be able to get his tax refund.

He does need to file for Modification of child support. It will continue to mount up until a Judge modifies the amount. Modification is not retroactive, so he need to file ASAP.

I very highly doubt he is a "millennium." This is a millennium: "a period of a thousand years, especially when calculated from the traditional date of the birth of Christ." He is not a period of a thousand years. Perhaps you mean "millennial?" What does that have to do with anything? That should mean he knows how to access a computer.

He has to go to court and ask for a modification. He might not get it. "Offshore?" What does that mean? This is weird.

I thought that meant he may not have a dependable internet connection where he works. But, I may be wrong. He may just want someone else to do the work for him and get the info.
