    What is Strong Arm Robbery
If a shoplifter shoves a loss prevention officer when trying to escape from the store after getting caught stealing, can the shoplifter be charged with strong arm robbery under California law?

Strong-arm robbery is a means of describing act of robbery that includes an element of force,
    Quote:

Quoting California Penal Code, Sec. 211. Robbery
Robbery is the felonious taking of personal property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence, and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear.

It is possible for the act of force as asserted against a L.P. to elevate a shoplifting charge into a robbery charge. To see whether such a charge could be sustained in a specific case, the defendant will need to discuss the facts with a criminal defense lawyer.
