I am assuming that the store personnel did not stop you on the way out. If so and you are not right now facing criminal prosecution for this, my recommendation would be for you to mail the shoes to the store anonymously — they are not yours and you have no right to them. So if you want to do the right thing, returning them would be good. You want to do it anonymously, though, as you could still be charged for the theft if you show up at the store and try to give them back in person. And you might not want to go back to that store for awhile. If they are on the lookout for you, walking back in there would not be a good idea.
If the shoes are still like new, returning them is plausible. If they are not, or if you want to keep them, you can pay the store for the shoes.
What do I do about the shoes I left? I really liked them. I plan on returning the shoes By mailing.
One of 2 things was done with them: They were thrown out (most likely) or they put them in lost & found. My money is throwing them out since the obvious reason for them being there is the former owner stole another pair, who isn't likely to return for them. Only way to find out would be to go ask for them. Good luck explaining that.
