Accessing Videos from a Company Security System
So I worked for a company in the past, and a girl was sexually assaulted by the owner. I was the assistant general manager. The manager above all the restaurants in the company asked that I pull the video from the camera system. It was a ubuntu based system and all I did was use basic commands to mount a USB drive and copy the folder over, and sent it to him. I'm wondering if I could face legal charges even if the district manager says the same thing.

Legal charges for what? For giving a superior a copy of the video, or for something else?
Re: Video Files in a Company
As far as entering the system, or anything for that matter. I assumed I couldn't since I was told to do so. The system wasn't modified or damaged in the process, it had no password, and was open to use to play back video since I started at the company. I haven't distributed the files, it was sent to the manager via email.
Re: Video Files in a Company
Did you delete the file from the camera system? Are you now afraid that the manager is going to deny that you received the instruction? Are you under investigation for your acts and, if so, by whom?

Then what is your concern? Do you always have this feeling the sky is about to fall on you with no reason to believe such is imminent?
