I am curious. Given you are in NY, highwayman, I'm guessing you know how things work. Is the probationer filing a motion the only way to get this done?
I don't often see this side of the system so my experience here is somewhat limited.
However, based upon what I have seen, a probation officer cannot petition the court for termination of probation. The defendant must take this action and the probation department and district attorney's office respond with their input on the matter.
Re: How to End My Five Year Probation Early
Im wondering if CBG even read the post.... Where in this post did I say I was going to do this my self? You won't find it because as I stated above in the exact message you responded to, that I don't plan on doing this myself. Because, verbatim; "I don't know how to". Hence why I would hire one.
I spoke to my probation officers supervisor on tuesday; he said he will put in a request for the judge who handled my case to see if she would approve terminating my probation. Low and behold the judge approved. I AM NOW PROBATION FREE.
Didn't even have to hire an attorney! I was ecstatic to say the least! just like that he called me the very next day to tell me all my restrictions have been removed!
I did not know that was a possibility. Would they actually look into my record? How would they know I have a criminal record? do they ask?

Then your system works similarly to my states system.
Your last couple of questions; who is the "they" you are asking about?

Whatever country I go to, would they restrict me from entering the country because of a criminal record? Like India for example.

Many countries would, yes. Obviously we can't give you a list of which countries look at your criminal history and to what degree; you'll have to check the requirements of each country you're considering.

After I go through the whole process of speaking to my probation officer. If I have to say it writing than I will. Seeing that once I hire an attorney I am deeming myself unfit to represent mylself in a courtroom.

What I said was, I'll put it in writing if I have to, since I won't be representing/speaking for myself. Sorry you took it that way.
