    Emancipating Our Son in Minnesota
We are looking for emancipation information to emancipate our son in Minnesota. We have a 17 year old son who is an uncoragable, lying, stealing, drug addic who refuses to follow any rules, be it ours or the laws. He has been in and out of local treatments (in-patient & out-patient) and failed them all, but they keep sending him home. He has been locked up in "Boys Totem Town" corrections for 6 months, sent to a boys ranch in South Dakota for 9 months (which did not work), he has been sent to a treatment center in Wisconsin as well as south of Mankato in Winnebago,MN. and they have not worked.

He is continually using drugs such as pot and DMX (Coraciden), huffing and just about anything else he can get his hands on (even drinking a full bottle of NyQuil). He is completely out of control. He continues to smoke his pot in our house (after told not to), he steals from us (so he can pawn it off for drug money) and lately has been getting very verbally abusive towards us and his sister. We now feel that he may start to get fisical with all of us. He has pending court dates for minor tobacco, marijuana possession and now the latest theft from target charge ($130.00 worth). He has made many comments about killing himself and now that he feels he is going back to jail for the charges, he has nothing to loose, so his behavior is getting worse.

He is currently on probation for skipping school and his probation officer is working with us on trying to get him placed somewhere again, but if that fails (because our son does not want help, nor want to quit using drugs) then what. WE ARE AFFAID TO BE IN THE SAME HOUSE WITH HIM NOW!!! We just had to call the cops on him last night because he suckered his sister into buying a stolen MP3 player for 5 dollars and now wanted it back. We told him he sold it to her, and if he wants it to give her her 5 dollars back. He then stole my wife MP3 player and refused to give it back unless he got the other one back. So we called the cops on him because he was getting very verbal and was starting to ball his fists like he was getting ready to fight (which he has done with the police). The police came, we told them the history and the problem with last night, and once again, no help. They told us all to stay away from each other and go to bed. We are TIRED of nobody in the system wanting to help. We are loosing our son and there is nothing we can do about it.

We are now looking into the emancipation idea. We no longer want him living at home. Any help or information would be great.

    Sincerley,

I fail to see how any judge will grant such an order given this childs history.

Minnesota has no emaqcipation Laws. Your best options are jail or boot camp for him.
