Got Caught Shoplifting Alcohol from Target
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
Recently, a couple of my friends got into shoplifting alcohol for whatever reason they had. They tried to get me into it but I'd be so paranoid I'd refuse to exit the car at times, so i was mostly the driver. They'd hit stores like Target REPEATEDLY, sometimes the same one twice in one day and they'd go to the other Targets in the surrounding towns. At one point I did get out of the car with them (three of us in total) when they hit a lic and I think they got caught because we were headed to the exit and they spotted security coming our direction so the two of them kinda went into the aisles and I got kinda looked at but that was about it, they got out clean and I left. We returned and that time the second we got out of the car in the parking lot, we got looked at by every single employee in the store, they even did that sh*t where if there's a quiet secluded area of the store they go there and entertain themselves while watching you. But then about a week later I went with my girlfriend to said Target and nothing happened there and the day after I went with one of the two friends, and again, no attention.
The day after, my friends and I went to the OTHER Target, the one they'd hit repeatedly and ohh, was that one close. I had gotten out with them to this particular target a few times PRIOR to this day when they would to their thing and I'd kinda be a lookout, and every time I'd feel heat closing in more and more, like more employees swarming the area, they'd do that thing where they raise the volume on their radios and pretend to talk to each other and what not. On this particular day, only one decided to hit the lic and us two kinda just walked around and we walked out the store, but the other one, the one with the bottle, separated from us and came out with nothing. He said what happened was as he was ready to leave he noticed someone making eye contact with him at the door so he took a phone call, walked back around the store and put the bottle down and left. He said at the exit the guy was like "what's up bro, where's the bottle at?" My friends then said he began acting stupid & saying stuff like "what bottle?, I don't know what you talking about" & that the security asked to search him and when he did he was just like "alright, go on your way bro."
So my question is, should we like never return to that place? Are us that didn't take anything in danger if we return? If we do return can we get f*cked there on the spot? Is there possibly a police report that has been filed? Since it's been hit repeatedly?
Re: Got Caught Shoplifting Alcohol from Target
You should stop participating in theft. Driving the getaway car is just as bad as if you were in the store stuffing the items down your pants.
I would recommend you stop "hanging out" with criminals and stay out of all Targets for a while. There's a good chance they're looking for you. If the store contacts you, ignore them. If the police or prosecutor contact you, decline to speak to them without an attorney.
Oh yes, and one more time, stop stealing.

Stop hanging out with morons who rob stores. No you should probably just not go into those stores anymore. How are you getting "****ed" if you go back in? YOU are the ones who broke the law so if YOU get arrested that's your own fault. It's not the stores or the cops fault.
I'm sure they have called the police if they are constantly getting robbed. The police are probably investigating and keeping an eye out. So stop breaking the law, stop hanging out with morons. Go get a job or something. A hobby.
