Can you be ordered to pay child support without also gaining rights to see your child?

It is possible to be ordered to pay child support yet have no visitation rights. The most likely situations where that may occur:

In a paternity case, if the father does not participate in the proceeding or request visitation, it is possible for a child support to issue with no visitation order.

In a custody case where paternity is not at issue, it is possible that concerns about a parent will be so significant that a court may suspend parenting time -- but being a bad or dangerous parent does not excuse you from having to pay child support.
