Does the father have a say in the first name?
My ex and I broke up, and now she has found out she's pregnant. We have been on good terms, until this. She wants to give the baby a very strange name. And she has said that it is not open for discussion. She lives in Washington, and I live in California. And there is no questions about me being the father. The child is due in late May. Do I have any rights regarding the baby's first name?

Were you married? If you weren't then you are not considered the LEGAL father until paternity has been established, and she can give that poor child any strange name she wants. :(

We were never married. She did say the baby would have my last name, but I would have no input in regard to the first name.

Them's the breaks!! Maybe she will think it over and change her mind..When the child is born you need to request paternity/visitation/custody.

BTW...Can you tell me what the name is?

    Congratulations!!

Can you convince her to spell it Lincoln? You know as in Abraham? Other than that....just hope baby has a nice middle name you can call it by.
