Court Date Does Not Exist
I was pulled over for speeding in a school zone today in Columbus, OH. It was weird because the cops just walked out in the middle of the road and pulled over as many people they could. Anyway, after getting home and looking at my ticket, I noticed that the officer wrote my court date for February 30th, 2007. That date does not exist! I was wondering if there is anything I can do.
Re: Court Date Does Not Exist
Call the court and ask. Probably March 30th.
Re: Court Date Does Not Exist
Also I do not know if this matters or not. There were several cars pulled over at the same time in the parking lot of the school. When the officer came back he gave me a woman's ticket that wasn't mine. I did not know it until i signed it and me not thinking told the officer. After I left I was so upset that I didn't just keep the wrong ticket. Is there anyway I can prove that they were not doing there job well like paying attention? The cop messed up twice. If I have to pay attention to a school zone, I think an officer should have to pay attention to writing the correct information on my ticket and not handing me the correct ticket. I know I was in the wrong, but it seemed like they were more concerned about pulling as many people over into the crammed parking lot and making god know how much in fines that day. Guess that's what happens when there are a lot of snow days and the police dept. needs to make up for the lack of school zone fines they were not able to give out.
Re: Court Date Does Not Exist
Do you have any defenses to speeding?
If not, pay the ticket. Go before the end of February and find out the correct date.
Re: Court Date Does Not Exist
Yeah I have a few too many points on my license. The most important thing is to not have any more added to it. I did call and talked to a county clerk yesterday, and I asked if my ticket had been put in the system yet and what my court date would be since it obviously does not exist. As of now my ticket has not been turned in, and the clerk had no idea what was going to happen with my ticket and court date. Guess all those clerks know how to do is look up tickets and take payments for tickets. Seemed like he was kind of a joke. City of Columbus is a joke all together.
