Emancipation For A Minor Who Is Almost 18
I live in Texas and am trying to help a friend who is almost 18. Her mom wants to move out of state(several states away) on spring break but she will graduate in May. She has a job and has been saving money for over a year. Her mom said she could stay here but gave her alot of stipulations such as she can't live alone or rent a place too close to a girl her mom doesn't like. I thought the law in Texas said that as long as the parent knew where you were living and you were still going to school you could move out at 17. I want to know if her mom has to Approve of where she lives or just has to know where she is living? Can her mom force her to move several states away only 2 months before she turns 18 and before she graduates or can she stay here even if mom doesn't like who she's staying with(as long as it is a safe place, and it is)?

To be emancipated, you must be working full-time and supporting yourself 100%.
