How to Get Child Support Withdrawn from the Other Parent's Wages
Parents in Connecticut have a child support order through which the father directly pays child support to the mother. He is not behind on his payments, but the mother is tired of having to chase him down and remind him to pay his support. How can she get an income withholding order so that child support is automatically deducted from his earnings?
Re: How to Get Child Support Withdrawn from the Other Parent's Wages
The mother can ask the father if he agrees to pay child support through an income withholding order. If so, she can file a motion for wage withholding and he can (a) join in the motion, asking for entry of a stipulated order, (b) respond to her motion, in advance or at the time of the court hearing, indicating that he does not oppose (or approves) the request, or (c) ignore the motion and let the court rule on the mother's motion without his having to respond or appear. (There is a standard form order for Connecticut.)
