Can You Delay a Self-Surrender Date After a Federal Conviction
The defendant in a federal criminal case was convicted and sentenced, and has been given a self-surrender date. He has suffered an injury that may require surgery and, if surgery must occur, it can't be scheduled before his self-surrender date. Is there a way to get that date moved back, if it is determined that surgery is required?

He may be able to adjourn the date, if we're talking about a few days; he should speak with his criminal defense lawyer about bringing a motion before the court to explain the situation and to request a brief delay.
