Can You Transfer Your Jail Time to Another County
A resident of California was placed on felony probation, and stopped appearing when he became homeless. He moved across the state and got a job, and has stabilized his life. However, he has a felony probation warrant for his past probation violation. He would like to serve his time in his present county of residence rather than going back to the sentencing court, but has been told that he must go back. Is there a way to avoid going back or to have his jail time transferred to the new county of residence?
Re: Can You Resolve a Felony Probation Warrant Without Returning to the County
He is going to have to go back to the sentencing court for any court hearings and resentencing. It is unlikely that he'll be able to serve his jail time in the new county, but he can discuss the detailed facts with his criminal defense lawyer. Even if a request were made, the other county would have to consent to accept the man into its jail.
