Modifying Custody to Match What the Parents are Doing
A couple in Illinois has shared custody of their children, with a parenting time schedule that alternates week by week. The father has been unable to take the children during the week, and so has only been exercising his time every other weekend. Should the mother take the case to court to get the order modified to match what the parents are actually doing?

If the parents are content with the present arrangement, there is no need to go back to court to change it. However, the mother may want to check to see how a modification would affect her eligibility for child support.
