Payment for Gas With a Stolen Credit Card
A driver gave a woman a ride to the store and, in exchange, she told him that she would pay to top his car off with gas. He filled the tank, and she went into the store and paid for the gas, $15. Later that day the police came to the man's home and told him that the gas was purchased with a stolen credit card. He was tracked down through his license plate. He has been charged with petty larceny. He went back to the gas station and paid for the gas. What should he do?
Re: Payment for Gas With a Stolen Credit Card
He should consult a criminal defense lawyer. He should help the police track down the woman to whom he provided the ride, if he has not already done so, but should prioritize speaking with a lawyer.
