Can You Sue a College for Making it Difficult to Qualify for OPT
My question involves education law in the State of:Missouri
my collage is a very old one and reputed in this area, very famous undergrad college.
i'm an international student who as done Masters most of the people whom i have contacted from my college are facing mental agony and issues
i will write all the issues that i'm facing and most of us my friends are encountering
1.Due to the negligence/incompetence of the college staff and not responding in time and not giving us the required documents for work authorization OPT(optional practical training to increase our skills what we learned here (international students)
2.Due to this we are not able to apply for Full time jobs and working only as contractors or small freelance jobs in consultancies
3.Paid thousands of dollars to study in states and not able to completely utilize the time and work authorization given by the governemt of USA
4.collage staff/department is not having enough staff/ knowledge how to handle the problems of international students still they are giving i20's to study here.
5.Due to this facts its creating a lot of frustration in students and mental agony and sleepless nights about future what happens if college issues late i20's.how to pay college loans back in the country
6.The time the USCIS takes is 3 months to issue Authorization to work collage is taking another 1 to 2 months total 5 months a person should be in job /how is it possible as a contractor without full time.
7.Due to the late issue of college i'm not able to attend interviews /get any job until i get my authorization from USCIS,last year it took 5 months to get my authorization and not able to attend any interviews as i was not able to work legally
can i take any legal action against college i only thing i didn't want to proceed with legal issues i don't want to mess with immigration and student status ,but if college department continue this attitude it will be a problem for future students who thinks its a great college
My college is a good one but i think the issue is with my department
Re: Can You Sue a College for Making it Difficult to Qualify for OPT
In a word, No.
You also seem to misunderstand what OPT is all about. It is about you gaining experience related to your education, not an entitlement to income.
Re: Can You Sue a College for Making it Difficult to Qualify for OPT
Nobody is forcing you to attend that particular college.
Perhaps you should consider another.
