Can You Move Out of Your Guardian's Home When You Turn 18
My question involves adoption law for the State of: Oklahoma
I am 17, and I turn 18 in May. A member of my family has guardianship of me. I will be a Senior in high school next year. If I'm 18, but still in high school, can I legally move out of the home? Or do I have to wait until I'm out of high school? If so, what do I need to do to legally leave the home?

Just to be absolutely sure, does the guardianship order state that it ends when you're 18?

I think its the opposite. The guardianship order has to specifically state that it continues after the age of majority.

I honestly don't know, but I will look at the documentation.

That could also be, but the point I'm trying to get to is, does the guardianship continue after the age of 18? If so, it will say so. If it says nothing on the topic, I agree it's probably safe to assume that it does, but I don't want to give this kid an answer only to have him come back with something like, "So I can move out even though the guardianship papers say they remain in effect until I'm 21?" And you KNOW that we've had situations like that here before.

I am a girl. Not "him".

There was no way to tell from your post. I had 50/50 odds. I took a shot.

haha, I get it. And I checked the documentation. It doesn't say anything about restrictions. It only says "guardianship until further notice."

Until further notice means it stays in effect until action is taken to lift it.
