He should immediately contact his criminal defense lawyer. He needs to arrange to present himself before the court services / offender services agency (CSOSA), with a very good explanation of why he was late. If the defendant wants to avoid being resentenced to a standard jail sentence, and still be allowed to serve on weekends, it is not a good idea to try to talk his way out of the situation without the help of a lawyer.
