How to Get a Child Support Arrest Warrant Purged

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Georgia

Due to not being able to find employment, I have not been paying child support. I currently owe $7500. I went to court in July for contempt and the judge order a purge of $1k, but I was unable to pay, so a warrant has been issued for my arrest. I just started working this month and have paid the monthly amount plus $200 towards the arrears. If I continue to put something towards the arrears, will the warrant be recalled or do I have to turn myself in?

You might as well just turn yourself in and get it figured out. Warrants generally don't go away until that person is arrested due to it or turns him or herself in.

I have still been paying child support, but I have a question regarding my visit this weekend. Per the order, I have 1st and 3rd weekends and starting on the 19th through Christmas Day, is suppose to be my visitation time. Since today is the 3rd weekend, do I get my daughter today or on the 19th?

It doesn't matter if you have started to pay child support. You still have the warrant and it will not go away until you take care of it or they arrest you.

Does your ex know you have a warrant? Honestly if it was me and you told me you were coming to get the kids I'd tell the cops and have them waiting for you instead so you took care of the damn thing.

But concerning the visitation talk to the custodial parent about it.

You better go take care of that warrant. Do you want to be with your daughter somewhere and the cops pull you over, run your name and find the warrant and arrest you in front of you daughter? That could happen. Go take care of it.

She knows about the warrant, but will she get in trouble for calling the cops instead of letting me get my daughter? We are practically enemies right now, so talking to her about the visit won't happen.

No. She won't be preventing you from getting your child, you would by having a warrant out for your arrest and getting arrested

She's not stopping you from getting your daughter. YOU have the warrant. Not her. I'm saying what I would do. I don't know what your ex will do. But if I knew my ex had a warrant in the state we're in I'd call it in so fast. I know he has one in a neighboring state but he never goes up there. And it's so minor they wouldn't extradite him for it from here.

Warrants never go away. My ex has had one since 2013. It was something easily avoided too. Go to the police station and take care of it. You can show the judge you're paying and maybe that will help. I don't know. But the longer you let it go the more likely that it comes up in a traffic stop WHILE you have your daughter. Do you want her to see you get arrested?
