Can You Take Sick Leave from One Job While Working Two Jobs
An employee works in two different job capacities for the same employer. The employee has a job as a phlebotomist, and that job requires extensive standing. She also has a second job as a receptionist, for far fewer hours per week, and that's a job that allows her to sit. She gets two rates of pay and two paychecks.

She needs foot surgery, and wants to request sick leave for the phlebotomist job because she won't be able to stand as that job requires during her recovery. Will she be able to continue to work in the receptionist job while she is out on sick leave for the phlebotomist position?

All other issues aside, if her employer is okay with her taking leave from just the one job role, it can authorize her to do so.

If her employer for some reason does not want to do that, and job falls under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (or if she qualifies under the criteria of a similar state job), it is possible that her injury will qualify her for reasonable accommodation. If she invokes ADA protection, accommodation might be available that would allow her to continue to work as a phlebotomist, with accommodation that will require less standing time; or they might be able to assign more sedentary work, such as additional clerical work, during her period of disability.
