Quitting with Less than Two Weeks Notice
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: TX

    Hello

I gave my employee two weeks notice but I got a new job and they want me to start immediately.

my question is: can I leave my work before the two weeks notice ending ?

What is the low say about that?

    Thank you :)

The law says that your employer can give you a bad reference in the future, and make other honest statements about how you quit on short notice or left them short-handed.

Unless you have a contract that says otherwise you can walk out right now. But as Mr. Knowitall says they can then give you a bad reference.

Most employers understand that it causes a problem when people leave without notice and don't normally force new employees to do it. Sort of a "Do unto others..." thing.
