Can a Parent Give a Minor Permission To Live With an Adult Boyfriend
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Ohio
i am 16 ill be 17 in February. i currently live in Ohio. i have been in a relationship for over a year and i would like to move out and move in with him. he lives in Kentucky though. its not the best place for me at this house there is not food kept in the house i do not have proper care and i'm constantly around drinking and drugs. i do not have a mother (with custody rights) but she is alive though i know she could not stop me from leaving, only my father could. if i got my father to sign a paper stating that i can move out (basically stating he is giving up his custody) and have myself and a witness sign it. making sure it states he can not change his mind or make me come back and that there will be someone appointed to be my guardian if needed. would that hold up if he ever decided to change his mind? would that be enough to make it where i can leave?
Re: If My Dad Signs a Paper Can I Move Out at Age 16 in Ohio
Ohio appears to lack a provision for emancipation. Your legal guardian is free to allow you to move to another state, but you will NOT have the rights of an adult, your dad can still be held legally and fiscally responsible for you, and you will still be subject to the laws in that state regarding school, sex, and everything else.
Oh, and if dad lets you go and then changes his mind, he can come and get you.
If you are subject to unsafe and dangerous conditions at home, contact CPS or the police.

You can't witness anything because of your age.
Re: If My Dad Signs a Paper Can I Move Out at Age 16 in Ohio
Allowing you to move out is not giving up custody. If your dad gives you permission to move out you can move out, but if he ever rescinds that permission and says you have to move back home, back you come regardless of what he may have signed. There would have to be a court order giving someone else guardianship of you for it to have any legal weight at all. But even then, if Dad voluntarily allowed the guardianship (for purposes of getting you medical care or enrolling you in school, say) and later changed his mind, don't think the court would not pay attention to Dad's wishes.
When you're 18 (not 17 - 18) you can go where you want. Until then, you don't live anywhere Dad doesn't give you permission to live unless the court removes you over his objections, and you may rest assured that if that happens you will NOT be living with your boyfriend, but in foster care or a group home.

Why does your "adult" b/f unable to get an "adult" g/f?

Your dad would not be "giving up" custody of you if he lets you move with your boyfriend. He would just be allowing you to live somewhere else. Really? "making sure it states he can not change his mind or make me come back and that there will be someone appointed to be my guardian if needed" No that would not work. I don't think that would legally be held up in any court.
Why don't you report him to CPS if it's that bad? I assume this is your father using the drugs and not getting you food otherwise are you living with someone else?
Wait a minute? How old is your "adult" boyfriend?

Your mother has a right as long as she has parental rights to object to you moving in with an adult boyfriend. The rest of what you state is NOT going to happen because it is NOT enforceable.
