If there is a child support order in effect, the parent should go back to court and seek a modification of the child support order based upon the other parent's SSDI eligibility. In many state's the children's benefits will be conveyed to the custodial parent in lieu of child support.
If there is no child support order in effect, the custodial parent should seek one.
