How to Get Permission to Move Based on Future Plans
If a custodial parent wants to relocate and set up a long-distance visitation schedule, can they go to court for permission to move while their relocation is still in the planning stages? Will the court grant permission to relocate based on employment if the parent does not yet have a job in the other state?

If the parent has no active plan to relocate, the issue is not ripe for adjudication. The parent can formulate a plan to relocate prior to gaining employment, based upon other factors such as economic opportunity, access to family support, and the like.
