Entrapment and Controlled Drug Buys
A man was repeatedly contacted by somebody who wanted to buy drugs, by phone, text and in person, over several days. This person was asked to pick up drugs at one location and to bring them to the caller at another location. The man finally agreed to do it, but when he arrived at the agreed destination the police were present and they arrested him for unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. Can the man claim that he was entrapped?
Re: Entrapment and Controlled Drug Buys
Realistically speaking, no. Being asked to commit a crime is not going to make a normal, law-abiding person any more likely to commit a crime. They simply say "no", and stop talking to the person making the requests -- or they call the police. It only gets worse for the man if he was a paid mule.
The man needs to work with a criminal defense lawyer.
