How to Determine the Names of HOA Board Members
    State of New York

What methods are available to determine the names of current board members for a NY Homeowners Association? The condominium complex has no main office and no names are listed in the NY DOS Corporation Database.

    Thanks!

If you own a condo in that association, the names of the board members are readily available to owners through any number of documents routinely provided to owners.

If you do not own a condo in that association, then you'll have to figure out another way.

I see that you are a process server. If your client is suing the HOA and you cannot find a registered agent listed and cannot learn who the board members are you may be able to serve the Secretary of State.

    Thank-you adjusterjack.

Yes, this is for a client. The HOA isn't being sued, they need to be served as a judgement creditor in a foreclosure case. I've heard the Secretary of State won't accept on behalf of HOA's in this situation, although I have no citation for this. In any case the client is asking for a member of the board to be served.

Would a village or town hall keep and disclose such records?

    I couldn't say.

If the HOA didn't file it's corporation papers with the state (are you sure they didn't) I wouldn't imagine that they would file anything locally.

No harm in checking, I suppose.

You might also check the county recorder and see if anything comes up.

Try googling the name of the subdivision or HOA. Sometimes people post stuff online.

If all else fails go know on doors of the subdivision and offer cash for the names.
