I Was Arrested for Shoplifting But No Items Were Stolen
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Tennessee.
The retail store theft deterrent person said that I had shoplifted by pushing my cart past ALL points of sale, the registers. I had not even come within 15ft of the registers at any time while in store. In fact, I spent 45 min in the restroom sick. When I was grabbed forcefully by a man, I had no idea what was going on. Long story short, all of my things searched, including my car, which no permission was given, no items were found to have been stolen. Please help. Any info will be appreciated!

    Can you clarify your story:

Were you stopped coming out of the restroom after being in there for 45 minutes?

Was the restroom located near the front doors?

Were you, in fact, arrested? Did the police respond and take you to jail? Did they issue you a citation or a summons to court?

To dovetail on the prior question, where was your cart while you spent 45 minutes in he bathroom?

I suspect there is video of what actually transpired. Is that video going to show you going around or past registers with the cart or any goods? It wouldn't be the first time that a thief felt they were cornered and then tried to play it off in some way.
