What Happens if an International Student Gets a Divorce and Wants to Remarry
I'm an international student on F1 visa, I had to travel to my home country last year for a family emergency and I'm still here... I got a new multiple visa in January and I was married at the time of my visa application. But I got a divorce right after I got my visa. My ex-husband was on his F1 Opt and he has his green card. I'm now engaged to someone else and we are getting married. I'm going to back to the states in a few days and I was wondering if there is a way that I could take my fiancé with me. I'd really appreciate if you could help me with this matter.

Ps. I got married to and divorced my ex-husband in my home country.

    Thank you guys very much.

Unless your fiancé qualifies for F1, H, or another status on his own, the only way is if your fiancé becomes your husband: F2 dependent visas are not available for fiancé(e)s.

Thank you very much for your reply. Do you think there's going to be a problem if We get married while I'm here in my home country and then he applies for F2? I'm asking because I divorced my ex-husband after I got my visa and my marital status is married on mu visa application form and in social security. But I was never on a dependent visa. I always had my own visa.

My guess is that you will be the guinea pig for this. Please come back and let us know how you made out with the entry back into the states.
