My Sister Used My Name when She Got Pulled Over for a Traffic Violation
My question involves defamation in the state of: Georgia and Michigan. We reside in Michigan but the traffic violation took place in Georgia a couple years ago. I found out just recently because I got a letter from Michigan stating I need to watch the points on my driving record and to my surprise the georgia ticket showed up on my record. I called GA to get a copy of the ticket (which was paid-I am guessing by her) I need to find out how to dispute and get the points off of my record. I consulted an Attorney he said because it is over state line there wasn't much he could do. Any advice would be great right now. I have proof she was in GA, I have proof I was in MI on the date of occurrence. State of MI is telling me I need to go to GA to dispute it.

You do need to dispute it in GA though I have no idea whether you would have to actually make a trip to GA to do it.
You can try asking the GA court clerk the "How do I...?" question but don't expect much as they cannot give legal advice.
You may have to hire a lawyer in GA to handle it there.

Thank you!!! GA has passed my call from person to person, to person. I have a call into the detective but still waiting to hear from them. No one seems to know the process on how to dispute it. I also plan to press charges against her if I have to make the trip down there.

This occurred a couple of years ago ? Why have you waited so long to look into this ?

I think she just found out about it when she recently got a notice in the mail regarding the number of points on her license.
