Can a Lawsuit Against You Proceed After You File Bankruptcy
I am being sued for causing an injury, and filed bankruptcy. The plaintiff's lawyer keeps trying to schedule an arbitration hearing. Isn't that illegal after I file my bankruptcy case?

Speak to your bankruptcy lawyer about whether you gave proper notice of your filing to the court in which the lawsuit is pending and to the plaintiff's lawyer. If not, then they don't know about the bankruptcy. If so, unless they obtained relief from the automatic stay, the lawsuit should be stayed pending the lifting of the automatic stay by the bankruptcy court. Your bankruptcy lawyer can help you understand what is happening and whether you have a basis to petition the court to hold the plaintiff's law firm in contempt of court.
