Renovations of an Occupied Rental Unit
My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: CA
We where told that with our new lease we had to go under renovations. But it is only a partial renovation and has been going on for a week. The 3 of us and our 2 cats have had to stay in one room one working bathroom no kitchen and a whole lot of dust and fumes. The management company has not offered to any type of compensation for the inconvenience. We are on the hook for cleaning up after the crew. I have been taking pictures of the whole process because the crew has damaged walls and doors just to make sure we don't get charged for those damages.
Is this legal I just want to know even though my boyfriend says let it go.

I have to agree with your boyfriend.

You're getting an upgraded apartment in exchange for some inconvenience.

    Let it go.

I do agree, however, with taking photos of the damage caused by the contractors and, when the work is done, if those items have not been addressed, send WRITTEN notice to management along with the photos.
